This photograph is puur fantasy .... an image that I had in my mind for a long time. I had photographed this beautiful horse for an other project which didn't happen for some reason... I created a fantasy background which I party illustrated in the same color range ...  It feels like the horse is posing against a beautiful old wall. The horse was photographed with a high end digital camera and the background was mainly illustrated.

I was driving back from the location where the English Patient was filmed on a beautiful summer evening in Tuscany.. Tired after a long day of location scouting I saw this amazing landscape with a white horse grazing… I almost kept driving  wanting to get back to my hotel....but I did stop and take 1 photograph… Later when I got back in my studio and looked at the film I saw how beautiful the landscape was but the horse  not so.. She was old and either pregnant or very fat... but thanks to modern technology we made her look a lot younger giving her a "tummy tuck" in post production....

One of my personal favorite photographs…. I wanted to photograph an image with lots of movement without giving a feeling of being blurred or unsharp..This image was created using several photographs mixing the best part of each different one… It took a long time to find the right color combinations… The silver grey blending to a warm brown. The arm and hand was added later to help with the balance and to give the picture a better feeling of proportion. 

After having taken so many portraits of well willing professional modelsit was great fun trying to take formal portraits of some of the largest animals alive.  The bison, who I named Boris wasn't very cooperative  but after feeding him close to thirty loafs of bread, which my assistent threw at him from a safe distance we did get him to pose in the right position... I did ask him to smile but that apparently wasn't an option…. This series was taken with a large format ( 4-5 inch ) film camera....using only available light.
