Alewijn Don A.K.A. Don Drawings is a self-taught artist and conceptual designer from Amsterdam. With a background in art history and history, he developed a passion for the constructivist movements of the early 20th century. This inspiration is clearly visible in his artistic style, which simultaneously shows a mix of elements from Suprematism, Cubism and Bauhaus. Don's approach is unique in its playfulness, and its pleasing aesthetic blends in well with the modern interior. His neat and defined geometric style allows him to minimize the world around us. The emphasis is on lines, shapes and colors. He claims that 'colors' and 'shapes' are all around us. By rearranging them and making them a central theme, he records this in eternity. Based on his own intuition, he tries to connect with his audience by using basic visual elements. By focusing in an almost digitally constructed way on classic media such as paint and ink, he plays with the memory of modern media.
In a large series of 'form studies', Don shows the artist's pure freedom. In this work the shapes move freely over the surface, like a dancer moving through the night.
