The Express Picture Library was the photography catalog of the renowned international newspaper Express, and in its heyday contained iconic images of both world and home events. The collection focuses on images of Royalty, politics, and society events. Key photographers who contributed to the collection include Terry Fincher and Len Treivnor.
Via photography you can join Terry on one of his five tours of the Vietnam War, as he documented the lives of soldiers and their endurance and valor in the trenches. His famous and moving image of an empty combat helmet suggests a lost soul. In reality, the helmet belonged to Terry and during a particularly violent shelling he had removed it to reach the camera lens and capture the terrifying moment. He was truly a photographer immersed in the scene, and out of the chaos emerged this beautiful memorial to sacrifice.
